Hospital Ministry!! … kinda

We have been in the Philippines for a little over two weeks now! We have loved getting to make this place our new home and it is starting to feel like it!

The sun is shiny. The air is breezy. The ocean is squishy.

Our ministry is filled with kids, women, empowerment, and Jesus’s love. Everyday our days are packed and our hearts are full!

Recently though… my ministry has looked a little different.

HOSPITALS

For about half the time I have been here I have been at the Hospital. Not for me… for my new friends.

I remember telling my new friends that if anyone ever needed to go to the doctor I would be their best friend and we would get though it together. When I said it I meant it and wow has it come true. I have been at the hospital more than I have been at regular ministry, but I have loved it.

I told my new friends that this trip for me THEY were my ministry. I have been super excited about the ministry given to us! But ultimately, these girls are my priority and even if that means me having to spend everyday in a hospital, I will and I will with gladness. I love these girls and getting to support them, love them, and most importantly point them back to Christ in every situation has been a blessing even in some of the most frustrating moments so far.

The Lord and I have fought for them in stressful doctors appointments. The Lord and I have walked with them to help them get WiFi to call home. The Lord and I have sat with them as they have cried. The Lord and I have sat and listened as they ranted. The Lord and I have laughed with them when we were at the doctors… again… and then again and again. The Lord and I have screamed in joy with them when the doctors gave a happy answer.

Yes, it’s technically my job to make sure they aren’t alone at a hospital… but to me it’s more than just following protocol… to me it’s showing them what Jesus would do.

He would never let them be scared on their own, or cry on their own, or be happy on their own, or do anything on their own. He would be there through it all not because he has to but because he LOVES THEM AND WANTS TOO.

So here I am laying in my bed as my new sickies are sleeping and the rest of my team is away at ministry, and I am happy. Today I got to be Jesus to two of my new friends by taking them to the hospital and being their buddy today in love.

And I loved it.
