So you did the 11-month thing, now what are you doing?
I’ve been getting the question a lot, asking me what is my plan for this next season of life. So I wanted to take some time to answer some questions.
Well, I have some exciting news…
I’ve been accepted to attend CGA (Center for Global Action) in January 2019 in Gainesville, Georiga!
What is CGA?
CGA (center for global action) is a 5-month long discipleship program through Adventures in Missions (the same organization that runs the World Race). CGA exist to “mobilize a generation to be passionate followers of Jesus who live out their faith whether at home, professionally, or church planting overseas.” They offer “a leadership and discipleship program that equips followers of Christ to recreate biblical community through teaching, scripture, and activation.” Basically, they have world race alumni come live in community, learn about leadership, biblical principles, discipleship. They focus on community, discipleship, inner transformation, outreach, and scripture. Find out more about CGA here.
Throughout the Race, the Lord really put community and discipleship on my heart. He has taught me so many lessons through these two things, so I wanted to grow in them and have them be a big part of my life back home. So CGA seemed like the perfect choice for me to be living in community, getting to be discipled, discipling people around me and in the community, and growing in my relationship with the Lord.
So starting in January, I will be living in a house with other apprentices at CGA, going to class at Adventures, working a part-time job, and getting to find ways to disciple people in the community. I am really excited about this next season of life, and what the Lord has in store. I will still have a blog to keep everyone updated, so stay tuned for more. 🙂
Ok, Courtney, that sounds awesome, but what are you doing in the meantime till January?
Great question. Well originally I was planning on moving to Gainesville, GA in August to start CGA then. However, adventures changed the dates to where Gap year (younger world racers) can attend CGA in the fall, and World Race alumni attend in the Spring. This kind of threw a wrench in my life plans BUT the Lord has such better plans than I could have ever dreamed up. So through different conversations, the help of my squad mentor, and the Lord’s provision in it all. I am still moving to Gainesville in August!!
After the plans changed, I was annoyed with the Lord. I thought that He had given me this great plan and I had so much peace about it. But it seemed to just be taken out of my hands, and I didn’t understand why. I still wanted to do this thing that I had so much peace about, but it wasn’t in my timeline. So I went back to the drawing board, and the Lord kept bring CGA up.
After talking to my mentor about this, my big frustration was that I did not want these next 6 months leading up till January to be this weird waiting period. So he worked his magic and found us this great opportunity. So two of my squadmates and I are getting to move to Gainesville in August, live in community, grow, get a job, and make the in-between time fruitful.
I am excited about the plan that the Lord has for me. It is so much better and sweeter than anything I am trying to plan.
Once my new blog page is set up, I will try to send out another post to keep you guys updated on this next season of life.
If you have any questions, or would like to partner with me in this next season, let me know.
Lots of Love,
Courtney
