I still cant believe it I got accepted! Being given this opportunity to change the world for our Lord and savior is such a reward and I can’t even explain how happy I am. Before I get into things though I would Just like to thank everyone that supported my decision and prayed for me during the time I was waiting for confirmation.
My first experience with Missions was spring Break 2016 when a couple members from my churches youth group and I went to the Dominican Republic. In the Dominican my view on the world was completely altered. seeing how people in other places of the world had to live everyday really lit a fire inside me to want to help change the world. Being able to preach the word of God to the children in the Dominican was one of the greatest experiences of my life so far. I knew that I wanted to do something along the lines of mission work after I had returned from the Dominican but I wasn’t exactly sure how.
The way I heard about the world race was through a close friend of mine Jared Celosse who is currently on a gap year race. He told my friends and I about his decision and we all thought that was the coolest thing ever but none of us really thought we could do it. It took a lot of courage and prayer to make the decision to apply for the world race. When you try to talk to someone or tell them that you want to spend $15,000, go on a nine month mission trip, and miss a year of college they tend to try and poke holes in your plan. I mean seriously it’s almost crazy what were doing here, just leaving everything and everyone to spread the word of God. but I knew this is what God had planned for me so i signed up.
So here we are now, I have been accepted to go on the world race. I couldn’t be more excited about it and I still can’t believe it’s actually happening. This is it… this is where my life starts, I have put my entire faith in God and I know he has a plan and this is a part of it. I am so excited to go and change the world and see how this decision effects the rest of my life, it’s just so crazy.
