I am not going to lie. I have dreaded writing this section of my blog. I have even taken an ice cream break to regain my thoughts. I wouldn’t say I love writing, let alone writing about myself. I have pleaded and begged with many friends to write this for me, but they have all so lovingly turned me down or have given me ridiculous answers. So I guess it is up to me, here goes nothing…

I am a flawed person in whom Christ, the most blameless one, dwells. Now, that is exciting news, and worth writing about. He has planted God-sized dreams in my little Texas heart. Dreams of defending and caring for orphans. Dreams of sharing the Gospel to people who have never heard. Dreams of serving the broken and outcast.

No, I do not know how these dreams will play out, but I will say… I have gotten to go on some pretty amazing journeys with God, chasing these dreams. I have seen 220 orphans on their knees praying for God to provide their next meal. I have seen babies’ ribcages poking through their scarred skin, due to malnourishment and abuse. I have sat and heard the brokenness from teenagers who saw their parents die in front of them. These journeys have not been easy, but through the hardships… I have found joy, joy that only comes from chasing these dreams with God.

My next God-sized adventure is the World Race. In August, I will be throwing on my giant hiking backpack, filled with my tent and other necessities for 11 months, and I’ll head with my team to Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Nepal, and Thailand.

Now that you know my heart, here are a few of my favorite things (cue Sound of Music soundtrack):

  • I love to travel and experience new cultures.
  • Like every other millennial hipster, I love my coffee… so I am excited to check off my coffee bucket list.
  • Sometimes I find myself on the side of the road in abandon houses looking for hidden treasures (I promise I am not stealing from anyone… just being chased by a raccoon).
  • My workouts consist of laughing at videos on EllenTube.
  • And don’t quiz me over movie quotes or the actors that play in them, because you will win every time. There will be no competition.
