I am writing this the night of Feb. 11th.
WOW!!! God is incredible! To describe this story filling I have to take you back to before the Race.
I don’t remember the exact date, but I know before leaving U.S soil I had a feeling God was going to use me to heal someone. I had heard of the spiritual gift of healing, but I did not believe I had or was qualified to have healing as a spiritual gift.
It is now month 7 of the Race and I have to admit, I had many opportunities before this month to humbly test the spiritual gift of healing, but I didn’t. I doubted that the Holy Spirit could heal someone through me. I believed someone else could do a better job than me. I assumed that I would be stealing someone’s “thunder” if I was the one who offered to pray.
Nice job Satan, you had me in a good spot of doubt, but not anymore!
Today was our fifth day of ministry in Lesotho and the Holy Spirit has healed five people through me! A lady can now eat because she no longer has pain in her throat. A lady can now read her Bible because the pain felt her eyes. Two ladies, the chief of the village and the head of the church committee, can now walk from place to place (including church) because the pain has been relieved from their ankles. And today, a lady can now worship fully because the pain completely left her right arm.
Thomas preached in church today. He did an amazing job at exercising his gift of exhortation. He encouraged the congregation to trust in the Holy Spirit and serve others with the spiritual gifts God blessed them with.
But before the service, as I walked into church I asked God where I should sit and whom I should sit by. He very clearly said the elderly lady to your right in the third row. So I did. I didn’t know why God wanted me there.
At the beginning of the service, Thomas simply asked who needed healing. I could be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual healing. Many hands were raised. We were asked to remember who raised their hands. I made a mental note that the lady I was sitting next to raised her hand. Then Thomas continues his sermon
When he came to reading scripture about spiritual gifts, he said he wanted to activate one of the many spiritual gifts right then and there. So he asked those to raise their hands again if they needed prayer, and for those around them to pray healing over them.
I turned to the beautiful lady to my right and laid my hands on her shoulders. I asked the Holy Spirit to fill me up and pour out onto her.
She laid her head on my chest. She moved my hands to the right side of her upper back.
I am not going to lie, I felt a little uncomfortable because I didn’t know Basotho and she didn’t know English. We had no way of communicating. We didn’t need communication because the Holy Spirit was at work.
I prayed and I prayed.
She started to cry, shake, and scream.
I prayed and I prayed.
I kept my hands on the spot on her back and I felt a pop. That was when the crying, shaking, and screaming ended.
Thomas began to preach again. We sat down. She wiped the tears and snot from her face. I tried to read her facial reactions to figure out what just happened. She grabbed both of my hands and shook them. She then gave me a hug with a smile on her face.
I knew I needed to ask a church staff member to translate for me after the service.
After church we served lunch to the congregation. I was so eager to finish dishing out the plates. I wanted to ask the lady what she experienced.
Finally, we finished, I found a translator, and the lady.
As we sat together and talked, I found out the lady had pain in her right arm. It was to the point that she couldn’t use it. She explained that then I was praying over her that she felt the pain move out of her arm, through her body, and exit. She showed me how she could now lift her arm around and above her head.
PRAISE GOD!!!
I could not believe my ears or eyes!
How could this be possible? How could I have healed this lady when I didn’t even know what I was praying over? It’s true. It isn’t possible for me to heal people. It wasn’t possible for me to heal a lady who couldn’t communicate what she needed healing for. I am not capable. The Holy Spirit is capable! The Holy Spirit made it possible! The Holy Spirit healed the lady through me!What an honor and blessing to be God’s hands and feet! I’m excited to see and experience what He does through me and my team this coming ministry week, month, Race, and life!
