My time in Penang, Malaysia has been absolutely amazing! God has been so good! God is always good, but I would love to share with you all how good He has been here.

To begin I must first explain that our squads plan to leave Europe was delayed due to the Turkey boarder being closed. In the moment we didn’t understand why our travel plans were being switched around, but God had a plan.

His plan was to first protect the three teams, Abiding Azar, Estuary, and Terang, living in Penang. A flood hit this area of Malaysia hard. And the second part of God’s plan was to have perfect timing when it came to blessing our ministry host with twelve (we are working with Estuary this month) willing women to serve!

When I first heard about the flood during our travel day to Malaysia I prayed that restoration would be brought to the community and that we would be able to participate in the restoration process.

And God answered my prayers!

We have already served in multiple ministries, but the ministry I want to focus on is Natural Disaster Relief. Our ministry host has not done this type of ministry before but he saw the need and knew God was calling him to help. He opened the doors of his Homeless Center to store, sort, and deliver donations for flood victims.

I have absolutely loved this!

Yes, we are doing the “backstage” work, which isn’t the most human-glorifying ministry to do, but God doesn’t always call us to do the “fun” or “visible” ministries. The fun and visible ministries may not serve His people the best during that certain time.

I have been smiling so much during ministry and I want to conclude this blog post by describing the moment when I was smiling from ear to ear.

It was the first day of doing flood relief ministry and the first day for the two teams to work together. It had been a little crazy getting a rhythm down, but at the end we were in a groove! We had finished sorting all the donations and packing everything into bags. The last thing to do was to load vans with the bags.

We had one assembly line of twelve ladies. We were tossing each other the bags and placing them into the vans. It was incredible because at the same time other volunteers were dishing out lunch to the homeless. It was beautiful to see my teammates stop our project, tossing bags and loading the vans, to serve the homeless. And then it was truly touching to see the homeless help us in the assembly line. They joined us when they didn’t have to, they wanted to help.

We loved serving them through preparing breakfast and lunch for them. And we really loved serving with them!

I hope y’all enjoyed my story and it’s my prayer that it also made you smile from ear to ear. God’s love is contagious! Don’t be afraid to catch and spread God’s great love!
