My mom got the opportunity to come out to Ecuador to do ministry with me and to do some fun things around and in Quito, Ecuador. It is called, “Parent Vision Trip.” This is where racers have parents come out to the field for a week.
She arrived Friday night around 10:30pm, which was way past my bedtime. We got to talk a little bit then we went to sleep.
Saturday we got a free day to do whatever we want.
Sunday us racers put on an Easter service for our parents. Then in the afternoon we did evangelism with whoever we wanted. My mom and I ended up with Keia and her parent, Brooke and her parent, and courtney with her parents. We passed out candy and toys to kids on the streets and ended up being invited into a house with a girl that is in a wheel chair. She shared her story for us and gave us ice cream. Sunday night we had a worship session that we planned for our parents and gave some testimonies of our race.
The next few days we had a worship session every night, ministry for half the day and free time the other day. The ministries we went to was:
1. Covi- this ministry is where kids go to for an after school program to get help with homework and to hangout. We pulled weeds and played kickball in the park.
2. Hogar- this was an elderly home with a lot of them having special needs. We hung out with them and pulled weeds as well.
3. Pan de vida- half of us put on a Vbs for some kids, and the other half led a women’s bible study.
4. Camp hope- this place is where special needs are taken care of. The guys worked on some construction while most the girls either cooked or hung out with the kids.
On our free days my mom and I:
1. Went to the market
2. Went to chilis
3. Went to the center of the world
It was a great week and the Lord did a lot of cool things. I loved getting to meet everybody’s parents and getting to play basketball with the dads.
