Well if you didn’t know already, I am on an all men’s team. Coming into Ecuador I knew there was a good chance of my team getting a certain ministry because of us being only guys.

Yes, we got construction the for the first month. Is this a bad thing? Absolutely not.

So we are doing all squad for the last 3 months of our race. That means we are living with everybody in one place, like 40 of us. You would think that it would get pretty messy huh? Well each team has chores given to us so it actually stays pretty clean.

Even though we all live together, each team has a separate ministry. One team is working with kids at a park, one team is working with special needs community, one team is teaching at a high school, one team is doing construction on a mountain, one team is working in a church, and my team is doing construction at the place we all live at.

So the first week we got to work at “Casa Elizabeth”. This is a house that is on our property and works with Inca Link, which is who our squad is working with. Here is a little background on Casa Elizabeth…

So this house is a ministry on its own. They take in girls that have babies that don’t have a place to stay. Most of them are around the age of 18 and don’t have a man in there life to help them take care of the kids. I believe they have around 5 or 6 women with babies in the house. Recently, they had to send the girls over to a hostel so they could do renovations on the house to add more rooms to hold more people. My team was helping with the renovations for the first week. This consisted of shoveling bricks onto a truck, cleaning the inside of the house, waxing the floors, moving furniture, building beds, and interacting with the workers. At the end of the week we actually got the house finished enough to move the girls back in. It was hard to find motivation to keep shoveling the bricks day after day, but when we got to see the faces of the girls and the babies move into that house, we knew all we had done was worth it.

The main thing I got out of that first week of construction was that when things get hard and monotonous, keep going because there will be joys in the end.

The second week of construction which we are currently in right now is digging a huge hole near the entrance of the property. When I say huge, it’s huge. I’m not quite sure the depth/width but let me give you a little details. So we have 6 guys digging at once, and we started on Monday. We don’t think we will be done digging the hole until next Tuesday. I’ll post a picture on my Facebook of the hole when we are finished. Anyways, that’s what I’ve been up to these last 2 weeks!

Hey, I have some exciting news, but you will have to wait till my next blog post to hear about it.

So I’m not quite fully funded for the trip yet, I need $250 to be fully funded. If you would consider praying and joining me for the rest of my race, that would be awesome! I need to be fully funded very soon.

I’ll be home very soon! Thanks to all of you, my race has been more than I could have ever imagined and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has for me in the rest of the race/future.
