“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters.”

 Galatians 5:13.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

 John 8:32.

Freedom: The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

What does it look like to live in freedom?

The Lord has been showing me that it is indeed a call for all people. How amazing is that! Called, meaning not only a recommendation or an option, but a calling! For each person, freedom will look unique, yet the truth of Jesus will always set people free.

This month in Cambodia, God is setting me free from bondage I did not realize the depths of. Hallelujah! In my heart, bondage has looked like fear. Fear of making a wrong move that might upset someone, fear of sharing my raw and truest thoughts, and fear of exposing my weakness.

God is passionate and relentless about setting our hearts free! The world race is so beautiful in so many ways. Living in a close knit community is so beautiful and so exposing all at once. My teammates are amazing! God shines through them and is displayed so vividly in how they set people free. Free to embrace all they are in all their weakness.

My teammates so gently encouraged me to share all my thoughts, raw and honest. They also encouraged me to embrace all parts of who I am, however that looks, to let all feelings, thoughts, and dreams flow through me without any hesitation or embarrassment. This is so freeing for me! I was willing to go on with my life, living as I had before, keeping lots bottled inside of me. I am thinking this may be common for lots of humans. God, in his great love, though it may take one through pain, is not content until his children are free! He is after our hearts!

“Come as you are,”
said He.
“But I love you, so
I will not let you stay there.
I will move you,
and it will hurt,
but I promise I won’t leave you.”

The truth about being set free from bondage includes sin too. Being exposed and moved by the Lord is so beautiful and painful. What is brought into the light, dies. God is beautifully furious to free his children from sin. He is not content until we are free! A common symptom of sin is hiding. Therefore, friends, let’s unveil and let God’s light shine on it! Again, what is brought into the light, dies.

What is so awesome about exposing weakness is that there is no hiding anymore. That in itself is freedom. In addition to that, in our weakness, God is strong.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

“Therefore, I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may work through me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9.

Let’s walk into fear, unveil, and see God work through our weaknesses!

For we are called to be free, my brothers and sisters.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

2 Corinthians 3:18.
