Month 2 is officially underway! This is all squad month here in Alba Lulia, Romania. We have been thoroughly blessed with gorgeous and very comfortable living quarters. Also, our host is very experienced, knowledgeable, and not afraid to challenge us. I’ll hopefully share more pictures and info on this in a future blog.
Rescue / Rescuer is someone who saves something from failing. In life it’s hard to be vulnerable and open. It’s easy for many people to get bogged down. In some cases you’d never realized you needed to be rescued until you were actually rescued. Flailing in ministry may result from any number of things. In my case I think it was wanting to only serve with my heart and not caring to ever be vulnerable. Vulnerability is exposing uncomfortable things…no thank you! Not sharing eventually will feel like captivity, and Jesus has forgiven everything we’ve done. All we have to do is ask.
Last month I chose not to share much with my team, which was partially a subconscious choice as uncomfortable things are…well uncomfortable, and most things I should be able to handle myself! So leaving month 1 was difficult to say the least. After a difficult goodbye we headed to debrief. I had learned that vulnerability would be one of the topics discussed there, but never intended to have that apply to me. The first evening of debrief Teresa, our squad mentor, shared on vulnerability, roots that cause things, and the power, freedom, and accountability that comes from sharing.
Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
Hebrews 10:17?-?18 NIV
Our squad will all be working to apply these teachings to our lives, and allowing God to rescue us from our pasts.
So of course there are songs that relate to this…

Below are just a few of my favorite lyrics.
He’s our rescuer, He’s our Rescuer, we are free from sin forevermore,
oh how sweet the sound, oh how grace abounds
oh praise the Lord our Rescuer
there is good news for the captive
good news for the shamed
there is Good news for the ones who walked away
there is Good news for the doubter
the one religion failed
there is redemption for every affliction, here at the foot of Calvary
…so basically the entire song is great, so you should listen to it, along with the following!
