Nepal is such a welcoming place full of beautiful people, mountains, and of course delicious food. This month my team and another world race team have been living in Kathmandu, the capital city. After living in the bush in Africa and Burma, I learned pretty quickly I’m quite the city girl, so I’ve loved every minute we’ve spent in this bustling city.
This month my team and I are working with a ministry (which can’t be named for protection purposes) that rescues women and children at risk of human trafficking. Our organization will typically go to dance bars, cabin restaurants (a.k.a. brothels), and the slums to rescue and share the gospel with women and children that are at risk and/or want out of that lifestyle. Our ministry has a women’s center where the women rescued get to stay and learn basic job skills, which include beauty, handicraft/sewing, and computer classes. They go through a program for 6 months so they can learn how to sustain themselves. While in the program they also attend bible classes and are surrounded by an incredible staff that truly love the Lord.
My team and I have been blessed to get lots of different ministry opportunities this month through our host ministry. We have gotten to do slum ministry where we go and teach the kids in the slums about Jesus. We got to help decorate the new Women’s center that they just moved into. We went to the village for a few days and worked with a local church there, and did a lot of prayer walks.
(Rescue Baby A)
The coolest part about this month is that we have been able to help out with the newest addition to the ministry which is rescue baby A. Baby A was rescued this month by our other team while they were doing ministry at a cabin restaurant. They spent time with a woman there, who immediately asked them if they would take her baby because she was scared that her baby was getting old enough to where he might be trafficked. Baby A is so adorable and so sassy. We love him so much and our ministry is currently working on a plan to get his sweet momma out so prayers for that would be appreciated! God is on the move in this place and it’s incredible to hear the testimonies of His love in the lives of these women and children.
