Malaysia. Woah. Talk about culture shock coming from Africa to Asia.  We went from walking the dirt roads of Africa to trying to make sure we are on the right subway here in Malaysia.  Malaysia kind of reminds me of America, except they have way bigger fancier malls and better public transport.  Oh yeah, and the street food is bomb, so y’all already know I’m in love with this place.

This month is a little different than the past couple of months. This month’s ministry is called “ATL”, which is a world race term that stands for “ask the Lord”. This month we are on our own. We are spirit led in where we go, where we stay, and what we do. At first this freaked me out to be honest. I hear from the Lord, but it usually takes me a while to get over my self and realize what He is telling me. I don’t usually get some drastic voice or super strong gut feeling from Him. I am also a planner, which means the whole no set schedule, and no set plans scares the heck out of the control freak inside me. It’s great though because this is a good way to really test out the gift of faithfulness I have been praying for and forces me to really find out how much I trust God.

However, ATL has been completely different than I imagined. At first our team had a lot of great ideas of things we could do around the city, so naturally I wanted to get all of it done, because I didn’t want to waste our time in this city. I also realized in the back of my head I was like I need to do all this stuff so the donors don’t think I’m just out here just vacationing. However, God has been continually reminding me it doesn’t matter what people think, including the donors, cause God is the only one who truly knows my heart. He also has been reminding me that none of it is about what I can do or get done. Its all Him, so I just need to live life, maybe plan the day, maybe not, but either way He is going to use it how he wants and according to His giant master plan.

This past week doing ATL, God gave us some sweet new friends who work at Starbucks. God used our typical basic Starbucks love to cross our paths. Seriously, we just got to hang out all week with them and love on them. Funny thing is they were probably more of a blessing to us than we were to them. That’s God for ya, always keeping things interesting and always being faithful. Anyway, I am excited to see what God has in store for this next week as we take on Penang for some more ATL adventures.
