Over the last couple days we have spent working with 500 or more refugees who have come from many nations, tribes, and languages. On Friday, August 18th, the France government forcefully removed all the refugees from Porte de la Chapelle and put them in refugee centers all over France. Today, we went to Porte de la Chapelle and it was empty. I can’t tell you the feeling of sadness that was there because you build these friendships and you have no way to contact them again.
After the video we saw this Jacob Hart (one of my teammates) and I decided to go walk down father. We found 6 refugees form Sudan on a bench with their belongings. We asked them some questions and realized they got there today! The reality is more and more refugees keep coming. We started playing soccer and soon refugees showed up from the middle of nowhere. By the end of the day there were probably over 50 refugees. Jacob and I were praying on what out ministry would look like now that the refugees are gone, but it looks like we got part of that answer.
Keep fighting for us in prayer. It is hard to want to start building new and deep relationship over again knowing that we only have 10 days left and some of those days we won’t even be in Porte de la Chapelle.
Thanks again team for being super solid! I hope you enjoyed this little video above. Here is some photos of what it looked like.
