I just wanted to give you all a little insight into what the Lord is teaching me right now. Here is a journal entry from this past weekend.

Lord,

I will trust you.
What a powerful phrase.
I say it so often but do I truly mean it?
I say I trust you yet I question you continuously.
When you call me to obedience I often say no.
When you ask me to surrender, I hold on.
Your word says I can trust you.
Your past faithfulness to me shows that you are not just trustworthy, but gentle and gracious.
You are beginning to reveal to me that I convince myself I trust you & the enemy lets me believe that lie but you are asking me for MORE.
More obedience.
More surrender.
Less questions.
No doubt.
In Psalm 56 David proclaims his trust in you in the midst of being pursued by his enemies.
In the most dire of circumstances he trusts you wholeheartedly.
Lord that is the kind of trust that I desire.
Grant me a heart that longs for what you have knowing that it is better than anything I could ever dream on my own. Give me a trust that results in immeasurable joy, humility, and a peace that is beyond understanding.

Be merciful to me, my God,

    for my enemies are in hot pursuit;
    all day long they press their attack.
My adversaries pursue me all day long;
    in their pride many are attacking me.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
    In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?

All day long they twist my words;
    all their schemes are for my ruin.
They conspire, they lurk,
    they watch my steps,
    hoping to take my life.
Because of their wickedness do not let them escape;
    in your anger, God, bring the nations down.

Record my misery;
    list my tears on your scroll
    are they not in your record?
Then my enemies will turn back
    when I call for help.
    By this I will know that God is for me.

10 In God, whose word I praise,
    in the Lord, whose word I praise—
11 in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can man do to me?

12 I am under vows to you, my God;
    I will present my thank offerings to you.
13 For you have delivered me from death
    and my feet from stumbling,
that I may walk before God
    in the light of life.
