I shared this with one of my teammates who is dealing with a similar situation with a person who is close to her. I pray that this encourages any Racer who is receiving opposition about going on the World Race.
I originally planned to go on a mission trip in December. When I got the word from God to go on the World Race instead, I shared this news with the missions pastor of my original trip. His response to me was “you could fail”. It was so discouraging, so hurtful, not biblical, and completely baseless. It made me doubt what I heard from God, it scared me, and it definitely forced me to rethink everything that I currently believed.
But 2 things happened… My faith and determination to follow God’s Word for me was strengthened and my conviction was fortified because the Devil stopped his day and sent him specifically to deter me from God’s great plan. The Devil knows that on this trip, God is going to change me and YOU in a way that he will never be able to get this close to us again. Satan wants to do whatever he can to stop us from taking our journey. He wants to stunt our spiritual growth. He wants us to doubt and fear our journey with our Shepherd. He wants to kill, steal, and destroy. And the Devil knows that only someone close to you could hurt you enough to deter you.
So see it as the spiritual warfare that is is! Steel your conviction and forgive anyone that Satan has sent to keep you from the path God has led you to walk. Any unforgiveness, bitterness, discouragement, anger, sadness, doubt, and negative feelings, send them to the depths of Hell with Satan, not at your friends and family. John 10:10 NLT “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My [God’s] purpose is to give [you] a rich and satisfying life.”
Keep you eyes focused on Him.
