Two months have come and gone and D-squad has officially filled a huge part of my heart. These past few months I have been able to live amongst some incredible people. I have been able to pour into, learn from, laugh and cry with them all. It has been a crazy few months, but I love where the Lord has called me.

Over the next few months, my co-leaders and I are slowly going to introduce different racers from our squad (if you want to meet the other racers you can click on their blog links in the left bar of my blog). While I get to be a part of the different ministry locations and work alongside each team, the actual individual racers are our main focus. I get to walk along side them, encourage and challenge them to go deeper with the Lord. They are my ministry and I am so grateful I get to introduce each of them to you guys.

This week I want to introduce you to Kendra Winnick. She has a heart of gold and has an incredible story! I have enjoyed getting to know her and I know the Lord has big things in store for her!

What’s the biggest lesson the Lord has taught you so far?

  • I have God’s authority and I have to walk that out and stop second guessing myself and the gifts that he has given me. It’s my opportunity to glorify god with the wisdom, knowledge, discernment and other gifts that I have experienced and received from God and be able to share that with others. It’s good to share my testimony to show all the ways God has and continues to work in and through my life.

What is one snack or food back home that you miss the most?

  • All fruit

Be honest, do you miss your pets or your parents more?

  • That’s hard. I would say my parents more but pets are a close 2nd.

Why did you decide to do the race?

  • I met girls who were on the race in the Philippines, everything they said and told me about the race were things i had dreamed and wanted for years. After praying about it, I had so much peace about the race and knew it was something God was calling me to. Also I decided to do the race because I could never stop talking about it. I love traveling, experiencing other cultures and learning and hearing from new people.

What’s one item you brought that you couldn’t live without?

  • Essential oils

What’s one item you wish you could have from home?

  • My bed

What country left are you looking forward to the most?

  • India, because I have always wanted to go there and learn about the culture. I have loved everything learning about the people and culture and I am excited to dive in to the culture and hear the people’s stories. I also want to have the young girls and women in that country know they are so loved by their Heavenly Father, they are seen, heard and known. I want to be able to speak truth and life over each person I meet.

Tell me about a local you’ve met that’s sticks out the most to you.

  • In Haiti, I was able to meet so many locals it’s hard to pick one. However, one that sticks out is a 15 year old boy named John Berry. He was a friend of our ministry host and after a week of being there his mom ended up passing away. He was over at our house almost every day and we just got to spend time with him, laugh, dance and love on him. Through that time I could see his heart start to mend and know he was cared and loved. He was so sweet, genuine and funny.

What’s one of the best things about being on the race?

  • I’ve loved being comfortable in the uncomfortable. The race has taught me to step out of my shell and try new things. I’ve done things I would never have done in the states but would have missed out. I’m experiencing God, community and cultures in a whole new way. I see more beauty in every place and person.

What’s one of the hardest things about being on the race?

  • The food. I’m not used to eating so many carbs and heavy foods. I normally stick to fruits and veggies.

Has the race been what you expected it to be?

  • Yes, AIM did a wonderful job doing an actual representation of what the world race could look like and possibilities that could happen.

What is the value that you see in having alumni Squad leaders with you on the field?

  • I can’t imagine not having alumni on the field. They have been such a blessing, so helpful and have provided so much wisdom and guidance. I have loved getting to know them and see the leaders more as friends. They are truly here for each and everyone of the racers. I can’t imagine going through these first two months without them. It would have been a big mess. I value all the leadership, honestly and Godly support they have given. I’ve enjoyed laughing with them and learning from each of the leaders. They have so much to offer and pour into us and I am so excited to continue to grow along side them

If you want to see more from Kendra, head on over to her blog and hit subscribe. I would also ask that you pray with me for her fundraising. She is still in need of a lot of supporters, if you feel like the Lord is tugging on your heart to support another person and pour into someone else, it would be a huge help. D-squad needs her on the field and I know the Lord is doing incredible things through her!
