What’s up in Month 10?
Wow, I can’t believe Month 10 is here. This month we are working with the AIM base here in Swaziland. It has been so cool getting to see what they do here and the impact they have on this small country.
AIM just celebrated 10 years of being established here. Over the years they have planted 34 care points through out the country that help feed 7000 children every day. This month my team and I get the chance to serve alongside the shepherds that are in charge of these care points and do whatever is needed there.
Everyday we are expected to walk and pray over the path the children take every day. It takes us an hour every morning to walk to our care point and it amazes me that most of these children have to walk even further than that. This gives us a little glimpse into their every day life. Most of the time the children may be doing this on an empty stomach, as the care points are only able to feed the children once a day. This usually happens after they return from school.
My team and I are partnered up with a shepherd named Welcome. His vision for this care point is that the children come to know and love Jesus by his and our actions. The children get a bible lesson once a week and the rest of the time our job is to just meet the kids where they are at and give them all the love we can. We spend 5-6 hrs at this place everyday holding and playing with the kids. In the mornings, only the small children are there and most of the time we will have at least one baby napping on us at all times. Later in the afternoon we get the chance to hang out with the older kids, whether that is pushing them on the swing or chasing them around. There is no language barrier for love.
I have been absolutely loving it here and I have trust that the Lord will continue providing for these children and bringing people to love on them after we leave. They may have no physical goods, but the joy of the Lord is in them all. Their smiling faces, their beautiful voices and the laughter show how much joy these kids have and it has been a joy to witness the work that God has done here and continues to do.
It has also been super cool to see the organizations that we all donate to have an impact over here. Multiple children where TOMS shoes and the children eat a manna pack every day which is supplied to them by Feed My Starving Children. These companies don’t just advertise this stuff, but children are benefitting from them and it has been so cool to see this side of the process.
Swaziland is small but God is at work here through so many different organizations!
Love you all!
Quinn
