The World Race seems like the dream trip. It caught my eye since the first time I watched the video posted on the home page. It seemed like an amazing trip that any adventure seeker would love to go on, but there is a set back, or rather a lesson learned once you are accepted on this grand adventure.

The trip isn’t focused around travelling and seeing the world, rather about spreading God’s love. The first lesson learned after being accepted, is how hard and trying a season of fundraising can be. I have learned that I have to work at it, be creative and step out of my comfort zone and ask people for support. I have also learned that fundraising isn’t just about the money, but rather building a support team.

I use to look at people asking for people’s support in many different aspects of their life and wonder why they do it. I use to think that I would never be able to ask people for money to go on a big trip, when they get to stay home and watch my adventures pan out. I use to judge, but I have come to realize that without a support team, then trips like the World Race would have a lot less participants, and organizations like AIM would have a lot less staff (there staff is dependent on donations to continue working). I use to think that fundraising, was to allow the participant to have more spending money, but I have realized that even with fundraising, money is still going to be tight, but I am letting go of these worries and letting God handle it.

This season of support raising has been hard. I haven’t met with people and asked for their financial support. I am scared, I don’t want to be judged, but I have to remember that God has a plan for me, and if I step out of my comfort zone and join the forces, then he is going to work mightily. I am slowly learning to stop judging others and to just worry about myself, for everything will work out in God’s timing. I am human, I am not perfect, but I do know that I have an amazing journey ahead of me, so please bare with me as I journey through this preparation process and do not be afraid to subscribe or share any of these blogs, as that is the best way to spread the word and to help build my support team.

By joining with me and supporting my race, we are building God’s kingdom. We are all part of the body of Christ, while not everyone is called for overseas missions, we can all be a part of it. The hands and feet could not do anything without the body, so in fundraising I am asking for your support as the body of Christ to send me out to be his hands and feet and spread love throughout the nations. This support does not need to be financial, but it could be spreading the word about my trip, sharing my blogs and praying over my team and I as we prepare to follow God’s calling.

In this season of my life, I ask that you join with me, and if you have any great fundraising ideas, comment below or message me! I am open to any suggestions.

Love,

Quinn

Thank you to everyone who has supported my journey already, whether that be financially, through prayer, someone to talk to or even just a smile and an “I am excited to follow your journey’. No words can express how grateful I am to all of you! As I stand right now, I am 21% funded, a little over half way towards my first deadline of $5000 by September 23.

Exciting News:

There has been two route changes in the past month:

– Instead of going to Greece, we will be going to Albania

– Instead of going to Botswana, we will be going to Zimbabwe

I will be leaving Canada to head to my “first country” the US to have two or three more training days in Atlanta with my squad and then will be leaving as a team to start this amazing adventure. I head to Atlanta on either January 7 or 8! This is becoming so real, and I am so excited to head out on this journey and to bring you all along with me!
