Yes.

You most definitely did read that title correctly.

I, Megan Leigh Smith, accquired a black eye while on the World Race.

In typical, “me,” fashion, it was not done gracefully or is even a cool story. It’s actually kind of embarassing. My parents really should have named me, “Grace.” Kind of a missed opportunity mom and dad lol!

So as I mentioned in my last blog; I had to travel from Macedonia back across the border to Albania to pick up our “littles,” Abby and Renata for the month. {Stay tuned for an awesome blog introducing them to y’all as memebers of Team UPLIFT! this month!}

It was a long 2 days that I traveled with another squadmate (Malia) so she could get her team’s little, Zach. We made it back to Skopje (sko-pee-aye) with about a half hour to spare before each of our team’s busses to our towns in Macedonia for ministry.

I was helping carry a teammate’s giant bag (along with all of my stuff). I barely made it to the chair outside by the bus when I set her bag on the ground. I went to go step a few more steps forward to set my stuff down, when my foot caught her straps in her bag.

I fell forward. The metal chairs outside that I reached out to lean on for support were NOT fastened to the ground; therefore, moved and I continued to fall forward. My face (more like cheekbone) broke my fall on the top of the metal chair.

Hence, this:

A beauty, ain’t it? This was last night’s picture (this happened Monday night).

Here’s today’s (7/5):

So I finally got the black eye I’ve always wanted, by purely being a clutz.

Hope you enjoyed this not even exciting or interesting story about how I busted my face. Yay.

**UPDATE: I cheek is still sore, bruise is moving and changing colors but got to wear contacts for the first time in several days! YAY! **

Dad told me to smile, because I am stoked that I have a black eye, but it makes it a little harder to see lol
