Hello to all of my beautiful brothers and sisters all over the world,
I hope that your March Madness brackets are doing much better than mine (I had ‘Nova winning it all…) and that March is going just fine for all of you! I’m sitting here in disbelief that it is already March 25… like what?! Time is continuing to fly by at an alarmingly fast rate! The days seem long, but the weeks/months absolutely fly. It’s crazy! I just wanted to update y’all on my time in Vietnam so far! (Yes my India sights blog, and last 2 Nepal blogs are coming they’re a work in progress!)
I moment of honesty, Vietnam was probably the country I was least looking forward to coming to. It just didn’t spark any interest or excitement. I had super high expectations for India and that kind of blew up in my face. Then for Nepal I said I wouldn’t have any expectations and I LOVED Nepal! I WILL go back someday for sure! Since no expectations worked for Nepal (which, coming into the Race I didn’t really know much about) I decided to do the same thing for ‘Nam – no expectations going in. I’ll be honest, I was slightly worried about the food situation coming in, but I am happy to say, that for the most part, it has not been too bad!
I have really been enjoying my time in ‘Nam! I absolutely LOVE our host and his family. He is truly a man of G0d and is doing wonderful things for the kingdom! His wife and kids are fantastic too, I love them so much! We “work” at the preschool/kindergarten he runs in a small neighborhood. We assist with the kids teaching them English, or just watching them or by working outside building and painting a small fence around this island garden he has, or helping the cook wash dishes or cook when she lets us. We have been welcomed in as part of the family and it has been SO wonderful only being in one spot.
The kids have absolutely melted my heart. I love them all SO much. I am already dreading having to say goodbye to them this upcoming Friday or Saturday! Yes, next week we will be leaving for Cambodia already. I feel like we literally just got here, insanity.
We got to celebrate Abby’s 23rd birthday this week, which was a ton of fun! Last Sunday we went and saw Beauty and The Beast (with Vietnamese subtitles) and went out to dinner. It was a blast! The movie was incredible! Tuesday night, we all surprised her with a birthday dinner with some comfort foods; chicken, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. Our host bought a cake and we had ice cream and fruit too! (The cake had bits of corn in it, but it was SO good and y’all know I don’t really like cake). She also is now FULLY FUNDED! Praises!
I will have more stories to tell in my next blog about Vietnam, I’ll introduce you to some of the kiddos and share some funny stories we’ve expereinced with them!
Please continue to pray for my other 3 teammates who still need to fundraise: Klancy, Janet, and Rachel! Also please pray for team unity, this month has been a little bit of a struggle!
Love you all, G0d bless!
~Meg
