Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing great!
Currently I am near the mountains in Pokhara (5-6 hours away from our house in Nepal) with 3 other teams and 4 teams are the same distance away in the jungle by the India/Nepal boarder! I don’t specifically know what we are doing since I wrote this blog last weekend since I would not have technology or WiFi! Our awesome squad content manager dani stayed back to post all of the squad blogs while we are away!
This blog is going to be more of a personal one, not really an update on what I’m doing!
Growing up as a Christian/in church, I had never heard of a deliverance before. I had never heard of a deliverance until a month ago in India to be exact. For those of you who were in the same boat as me, here is a very broad definition of a deliverance:
“In Christianity, deliverance ministry refers to the activity of cleansing a person of demons and evil spirits in order to address problems manifesting in their life as a result of the presence of said entities and the root causes of their authority to oppress the person.” Wikipedia
I watched a girl on my team get delivered and knew that I needed to have one done. I figured I had at least one spirit in me so I asked Tammy, one of the squad leaders who led my teamate through it if she could lead me through one in Nepal. She said yes (the rest of my team wanted to go through it too).
I kept checking with Tammy for when a good time to be delivered would be, I wanted to do it before we left for the villages. We settled on Monday night 2/20/17! I had 2 of my teamates with me to pray and take notes so I could remember stuff later. Sidenote, I read Scripture on being delivered and here is a quick little link for more information: https://www.gotquestions.org/deliverance.html
Here is also some quick notes that Tammy actually put together for a session on Spiritual Warfare she led: Deliverance
- What is Deliverance?
- Sin opens a window for Satan and his minions to come into your life.
- Once they’re in. They’re not just going to leave. They hae to be cast out.
- Deliverance is breaking strongholds and casting out demons
- Deliverance [as well as spiritual warfare] is for Believers to engage in. [Col. 1:13 – at conversion, we switch camps]
- Jesus cast demons out of people coming to Him in faith
- Most, if not all, of the references to spiritual warfare are written to churches.
- Unbelievers do not have the tools to maintain deliverance. It’s setting them up for further invasion. [Mt. 12:43-45] [Col. 2:14-15 – legal ground has not been removed]
- Exception: Unbelievers who are trying to get to Jesus may engage in spiritual warfare/benefit from deliverance. The Holy Spirit always fights for them.
- Deliverance requires legal ground to be broken
- Jesus broke it [Col. 2:14-15], but we have to walk in that freedom [Gal. 5:1]
- Secrets, Generational, Unconfessed sin
- Letting our guard down in our warfare, continually believing lies and not combating them
- This can look like physical sickness and may be part of the reason we didn’t see healings as often as we wanted. We don’t see the big picture!
- Deliverance is ours for the taking
- Choose to believe that the victory is ours and walk in that!
Other Verses
- Psalm 18:35
- I Peter 2:24
- I Jn 5:4-5*
- 2 Cor. 10:3-6
- I John 4:4*
- Is. 54:17 – No weapon formed against me shall prosper
- I Peter 5:9-10
- Luke 10:19*
- Gal 5:1
We began the actual deliverance and soon realized there was in fact something in me that shouldn’t be there. As Tammy asked for an identity of the spirit, it said it was doubt and that it’s name was “joe” and it served under satan. It’s function in me was to self-destruct. This completely makes sense and I knew the spirit of doubt was in me.
Quick story time about Meg’s life. Whenever anyone has ever told me a compliment or something positive, something in me would IMMEDIATELY dismiss it, and I would never believe it. It could be anything, a comment about how pretty I looked in an outfit, or that I did a good job on something, I NEVER BELIEVED IT. Never not once, which is hilarious because the second best way I receive love in the 5 love languages is words of affirmation. I need words to feel love, yet something in me all of this time rejected those words. I now know it was all “joe’s” fault.
After “joe” was sent to wherever Jesus sent him, Tammy did “the test” (a series of questions that either bad spirits answer or the Holy Spirit answers) again and found out that the Holy Spirit answered and its function was to bring harmony and love me. The Holy Spirit then gave me some comforting words; beautiful, beloved, daughter/child of God and there was one more that I need to get from Tammy who still has the notes from it. The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes. There is a window that the spirit can return and the window is negativity. Whenever I feel negativity I need to be aware that doubt can creep back in.
Then another teamate went and it was really good! I literally felt so much lighter afterwards. It is interesting though because satan was not pleased with me and everything else going on that he started to give me head pain and try to distract me while I prayed for the next deliverance and then a freak rainstorm happened and made us run for cover (we were on the roof), but we continued the deliverance!
It was a very freeing expereince. As of the time I am writing this blog (hopefully by the time it posts as well) there have been NO doubts or negative thoughts counteracting people’s compliments and God’s truths He declares over all of us! Praise the Lord, He is a good, good Father! Thanks to Jesus and to the Holy Spirit for just being awesome too!
God Bless y’all!
