This past month my team and I were in Ciudad Dario, Nicaragua. There we worked with Luz y Sal Ministry were the majority of our time was spent at their center for boys. The boys came from very poor families and attended the center either before of after school. At the center I taught English and played sports with the boys most days of the week. When we were not playing or teaching we were completing unfinished tasks around the center. My time in Nicaragua was so amazing and I will definitely miss it a lot. The boys exuded so much joy and were so excited to come to the ministry and interact with each other and the staff. My life has been so blessed by the boys and they filled each day with so much happiness.
On one of our last days of ministry I had the opportunity to go on house visits with Reigna and Cristobal. We visited the houses of 15 of the boys, to see how the boys and their families were doing. It was such an awesome experience. At every house we went to the families were so welcoming and quickly offered their chairs for us to sit in. The families were so happy to be visiting with us and had eagerness to talk. It was so eye opening to hear some of the families’ stories and have the opportunity to pray for them and read scripture. Seeing were the boys came from really helped me to grasp a better understanding of them. I loved getting to witness how much the ministry cares about these families and how they are changing so many lives through these boys.
I have so many good memories from Nicaragua that it would be impossible to tell them all, so I made a video composed of all my favorite moments.
