As a team, we each sat down and wrote out 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 in our own words. We listened to worship music, sat outside in the sun, and listened to what our God was speaking to us.

He desires intimacy beyond what we could ever offer. The gravity and grace that the gospel offers us is an invitation that causes a disturbance so great it’s impossible to ignore once you have willingly accepted it. Our heavenly Father honors our choice to receive His love. Sharing the gospel doesn’t make God any more all-sufficient, all-knowing, omnipotent, or omnipresent than He already is – it simply creates opportunities for others to trust in Him.

FIRST CORINTHIANS : CHAPTER THIRTEEN

If I am eloquent when speaking to men or to angels, but am not being genuine in love, I am the same as a skipping soundtrack, droning on with no end.

If I possess spiritual gifts that I only use to serve and affirm my own righteousness, and faith that surpasses all men, but do not possess love, I am and stand for nothing.

If I am selfless beyond comparison and do all my God commands of me, but have no love in my heart, none of my sacrifice or obedience will mean anything.

Love is patient and kind.

Love does not inspire jealousy, selfishness, or pride.

Love is not hostile, rude, or condescending.

It does not seek praise from man.

Love does not have a short temper or keep tallies against others.

Love does not applaud or encourage evil, but celebrates the truth.

Love provides protection and never doubts, but always trusts.

Love always hopes and remains in all circumstance.

Love never runs out, dries up, or grows scarce.

Love never fails.

Prophecies will stop, tongues will be silenced, and knowledge will fade away.

For we only know and see a small piece of the picture, but God’s whole picture is perfect and will make all imperfect thoughts, words, and knowledge disappear.

When I was young, I lived and believed and thought like a child.

But now that I am grown, I have put my juvenile ways behind me.

The same goes for our life on Earth and in Heaven.

Here, we can only reason with our limited sight and understanding.

In Heaven, all will be revealed and known, including the depths of our hearts.

For now, we are given faith, hope, and love.

But the greatest of these is love.
