As I sit here in my room in Vietnam, surrounded by 3 out of my 5 teammates that are currently asleep, beat from a long week and I can barely keep my eyes open(it’s only 1pm) I am really feeling the difficulty of life on the field.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love this life and it’s incredible! We get to spend our off days on the beach. We play cards, go to Karaoke, and go to the movies with local college students. We have fun adventure days like going to waterfalls, we play with cute kids, take fun pictures, have dance parties and watch movies together. It’s great. Really, it is.
But the race is also no piece of cake.
  The World Race is Hard.
It’s hard to live with 5 other girls that you barely know.

It’s hard to hear a teammate call you out on something that you’re doing wrong or need to work on.

It’s hard to miss home so much at times that you feel sick to your stomach.

It’s hard when all you want is a nice, warm relaxing shower.

It’s hard when all you want is a moment of time by yourself but know you can’t/won’t get it anytime soon.

BUT…

The world race is also incredibly amazing!

It’s amazing when you look around you and see 51 other brothers and sisters in Christ worshiping the creator.

It’s amazing when you’re jumping off a boat and swimming in the south sea of china with your team.

It’s amazing when you’ve climbed to the top of a mountain that looks out on the himalays.

It’s amazing in those moments every once in a while when it hits you that you’re on the other side of the world.

It’s amazing when you want to cry because of how hard it is. Seriously. What a privilege it is to even be on this journey!

The World Race is hard, yes but I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. The hard parts strengthen you and strengthen your relationship with Christ. And the amazing parts are just that, amazing. Sometimes on the race you’ll sit there and cry but sometimes you’ll sit there and smile remembering what an incredible journey you’re on.
