One of the things I dreaded most about the Race coming to an end was the inevitable question about what I would be doing next. The reason, I had no idea what my plans were beyond arriving back in United States. Well, here we are seven months later and I finally have an answer! But, before I get to that, here is a little glimpse into what life at home has looked like and how I got to this point.
The World Race is over and I have days where I wake up feeling like it was all a dream. I wake up questioning whether or not it actually happened. I came home and moved back in to my old room, started working in my old office, and stepped back into ministry at my home church. Life has looked pretty similar to what it was before the race, but I don’t. I struggled trying to make sense of all I learned, saw, and experienced in the comfort of my own home. I found myself craving the intense community I was living in, the adventure, spicy basil chicken, and even my sleeping pad.
But, God is faithful, even when we aren’t. He has used this time to refine me and challenge me. He has given me the space to reconnect and recharge. I have been able to pour out all that God had given me while on the Race. He has also surrounded me with people who have poured into and encouraged me immensely. I have seen God move in my own community and I am so excited for all that He has in store.
Now, back to the question at hand. What am I doing next? Well, let me tell you. I have the opportunity to lead a group of 18 to 20 year olds as they follow Jesus to the ends of the earth. I am so excited to be a part of this Gap Year program. This is a nine-month program that will cover three continents. We will be partnering with different ministries to serve their communities while bringing the hope of Christ to this hurting and broken world.
As a squad leader my role is going to look a little different than before. I have the privilege of pouring into these awesome humans as they discover their identities in Christ and how He has uniquely gifted them to impact this world for His glory.
In July, I will travel back to Gainesville, Georgia where I will meet my squad for their training camp. Then in September we will come back together as we get ready to launch! I don’t know where I will be going yet, but once I do you will all be the first to know.
There are a few ways for you to partner with me again.
First, please keep my squad and I in your prayers. We are going to need it!
Second, subscribe to my blog. I am going to try and be better about updating it this time around.
And third, please prayerfully consider supporting me financially. Once again I will be support raising through my blog to cover the cost of being overseas for nine months.
Thank you again for journeying with me! I cannot wait to see what God is going to do this year!
