For those of you who would like another copy of my support letter, or would like to share it with your friends or family, feel free to either send along this link or copy/paste the text. Thank you all for your prayers and support! I love you all!
Greetings! I hope this letter finds you well. As a soon-to-be graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, I have spent many months asking the question that all of us ask at various points in our lives: What’s next? I am excited to say that, after I graduate in December, I will be partnering with Adventures in Missions and taking part in the World Race: an 11-month missionary journey reaching into 11 different countries to serve “the least of these” in Jesus’ name. Starting in January 2017, I will be traveling to India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Botswana, Swaziland, and South Africa. Each day looks different on the Race. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Other days will include cooking for those in the community, shopping for groceries for those who cannot do so themselves, and spending time praying for the neighborhoods we walk through.
Throughout my college experience, but especially this past year, God has been teaching me about Himself in many amazing ways. I’ve grown to know Him as a true redeemer; someone who takes the messiness of my life and turns it into something glorious. God has been gracious in allowing me to find a wonderful church and campus ministry in Greeley. God has also placed tremendous role models and leaders in my life—women who push me to live out the calling that He has placed on my life. He has been so faithful to me, and I want to be obedient by giving Him my life, my time, and my agenda for the future. The World Race has been on my heart ever since I took a school field trip to the YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base in Colorado Springs as a sixteen-year-old, and five years later, I am saying “Yes!”
People have been asking me how they can come alongside me in this incredible opportunity. Most importantly, my team and I need consistent prayer. This next year will be a time of great transition and change for all of us, and I am expectant and excited for the ways we will see God work. Additionally, because I will be spending almost an entire year out of the country, I have to raise more support than a typical week- or summer-long missions trip. In order to be fully funded for the World Race, which is required by the second month we are deployed (February 2017), I need to raise $17,000. Just looking at that number has a tendency to cause me to worry. But I also know that I serve a good God who can move mountains, part oceans, and provide for any and all financial needs.
Would you be willing to pray about supporting me, financially and/or in prayer? There are some very simple ways to contribute financially* if you feel that God is calling you to do so.
- Fill out the fundraising card included with this letter and send it back with your gift in the stamped envelope
- Visit and subscribe to my personal World Race blog at http://joannasorensen.theworldrace.org/ and click on the “Support Me” tab on the fundraising banner

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for considering partnering with me in this incredible opportunity. I will be updating my blog about twice a month prior to departure, and between one and two times a month while I am in the field. I look forward to sharing my life with you these upcoming months and sharing the ways in which God continues to move!
In Our Lord and Savior,
Joanna Sorensen
