Hey everyone 🙂
I am sure that many of you visiting this page know me pretty well already but for those of you that don’t let me introduce myself. My name is Jessica and I am 22 years old living in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have recently received my BA from Grace College in three different majors over a 3.5 years span. I studied Business, Marketing, and Graphic Design and aspire to become a custom bridal gown designer in my future.
I played volleyball throughout college totaling my volleyball career at fourteen years. I learned a lot about myself and others through volleyball. I wish I could say that I faced some of the hardest challenges in life through my sport, but well, that wouldn’t be the truth but the truth is, I did learn a lot about myself and who Christ wanted to me to be in difficult situations.
Other hobbies of mine include dancing, rollerblading, acting like I’m good at yoga, and sewing. I currently work at a bridal boutique, a gym, and (soon to be) a restaurant. I also am an eligible substitute teacher and do that as well when I’m not scheduled elsewhere to work. Yes, everything I do seems to be ‘different’ than the next and that applies to all aspects of my life, not just work.
I grew up as Christian in a Christian home where we went to church every weekend. However, when club volleyball came into the picture, church became an event that didn’t happen as often. We remained connected and even volunteered at the church in the kids center when we could attend whether it was the check in desk or kiddie classes. I didn’t dedicate my life to Christ until later in life (later in life for me) when I was a senior in high school.
When I was a senior in high school (2011-2012), I had faced many difficult situations all within a small time frame. Some events were long term and built up over years, while others were first time occurrences but held just as much weight in them. I realized that I couldn’t fix my pain and neither could my momma; so I asked ma if she could find me a church retreat to go on. More so just to get out of the house and away from siblings and parents in order to find my self worth in something other than them or friends from school.
Little did I know, this one weekend would change my life forever. I became a dedicated Christ follower in February of 2012 and not a day goes by that I am not thankful for that dramatic change in my life. Since then the Lord has carried me through tough times and challenged me through the simplest of times. I established a love for countries and cultures on top of my love for Christ and His people and have been called to do the ministry that the World Race shares around the world.
