For the past few weeks one of my teams and I have been working with ministry called Pan de Vida. They are a feeding program here in quito, who give meals to the homeless and venezuelans refugees. I’m not sure anything has changed my perspective like working here has. Interacting with the refugees has changed my life.
These people are educated. These people are hard workers. They are not trapped in a poverty mindset. They are fighting everyday to give their kids and spouses a better life. I have everything they don’t. Except not.
On sunday’s the gates open around 12 pm at Pan de Vida. On an average day, around 250 people line up outside the gate to receive food. They are ushered in, and they give their names and wash their hands. Then before food is received, they worship Jesus. They have next to nothing. If I was in there shoes I would not believe there is anything to be thankful for, and yet they still worship the Lord with everything they have.
I want what they have. I want to know how they trust God in literally the worst case scenario. They live there faith. I want that.
I get to serve them with little things. But they serve me in a way that is much more eternal.
