In a previous post “When God Speaks…” I stated that I would post the truths that God laid on my heart to tell the students at Nico Malan High School. There are 4 truths that He reminded me of. All of these truths also apply to you. Each of these truths come from the Word of God. This is what your Heavenly Father says about you:
- You are a Son/Daughter of the Most High King.
2 Corinthians 6:18 & Galatians 3:26
Before you are your parents’ child, you are God’s child. When God looks at you, He says “Mine.” You are royalty. This may sound funny, but you are a prince/princess and deserve to be treated as such. Don’t allow your experience with your earthly father to diminish your view of your Heavenly Father. Your Heavenly Father is a good good father. He will never leave you, and He will never hurt you. Some of you may have lost your parents, but you are not an orphan. Through Jesus Christ, you have unrestricted access to your father, God. You are His prized possession. As a result of being royalty, know your authority.
- You are Chosen!
John 15:6, 1 Peter 2:9, James 1:18 NLT
Jesus chose you over Himself. Some of you may feel like you never have been chosen because of past rejections, but the truth is that God chose you before you could even consider choosing Him. Your parents (or children or friends) may have chosen drugs, a job, or significant others over you, but Jesus chose you over 2,000 years ago when He decided to die on the cross for you. And EACH and EVERY day God continues to choose you by waking you up, by covering you, and by protecting you. You are chosen!
- You are Deeply Loved!
John 3:16
Jesus, a perfect man, laid down His life for you and me (broken people). If you are dealing with low self-worth, I want you to know that Jesus thought that you were worth His perfect blood. He was humiliated for you. He chose to be beaten because He thought that you were worthy. He allowed people to curse Him and spit on Him because He thought that the possibility of Eternity with you was worth it. The Sanhedrin said that Jesus was “worthy of death!” (Matthew 26:66), but through Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are worthy of life. There is NOTHING that we can do to make God love us less, and there is nothing that we can do to make Him love us more. Knowing EVERYTHING that we would ever do and knowing all the times we would mess up, He declared His love for us when He laid down His PERFECT life for us. That is how much you are loved.
- You have been Forgiven so that you can Forgive others.
Matthew 6:14-15 & Mark 11:25
I don’t care what you have done, how dirty you think you are, God, who is your father and the creator of Heaven and the Universe, calls you clean and good. You are forgiven! With that being said, God calls you to forgive others (Matthew 6:14-15). Just like many of you I have experienced hurt and pain from people, and God wants us to forgive them.
“But if you only knew what they did!” “What if they said…?” “But they did this to me!” The Lord is still saying to forgive. I won’t lie, the process of forgiving others is hard and sometimes long, but there is HOPE. We serve a God whose hearts breaks when our heart breaks. So invite Him to walk you through the process.
These are just 4 truths that God gave me. However, there are way more! Like I said before we have unrestricted access to our Father through Jesus, so ask Him to speak truth to you. Ask him to reveal what lies you have been operating under. Then sit and give Him the time and space to speak to you. Once you hear him speak, take hold of it and believe Him, because what you believe, you give power to.
