In Malaysia, we began a month of Ask the Lord. Instead of having a set ministry and contact like we did in Africa, we arrived in the country and asked God where he wanted us to go and what he wanted us to do. My team and I felt led to a specific hostel in Kuala Lumpur, the same city where we had debrief, so we decided to stay there until we felt led to move on.
We planned to travel to Penang, but were unable to purchase bus tickets due to an unforeseen financial issue. We were the only team without the finances in our account to travel throughout Malaysia. We felt the door to Penang close, but continued to seek the Lord and what he had for us.
We spent Good Friday praying into this and found peace about staying another night in KL, but not for the rest of our stay in Malaysia. As a team, through different things God spoke to each of us, we ended up being led to a city called Port Dickson. We were still lacking finances, but a donor blessed us by paying for our lodging in Port Dickson.
It was eventful enough being led to Port Dickson, but we had an even more eventful travel day getting there. Our travel arrangements included two trains and a bus. When the second train arrived at our stop, it began to storm. The bus station was a ten minute walk away, so we waited out the storm under shelter at the train station. By the time it passed, it was getting dark.
At the bus station, we were met by several people telling us which bus to get on. At first it was confusing and we weren’t sure who to trust. As two of my teammates were checking the bus routes, a woman came and talked to them. She proceeded to tell us which bus to get on, after counting and making sure there were enough seats.
It turns out we were headed to the same place, so once we were on the bus, she showed us where to put our backpacks and invited one of my teammates to sit next to her. When we reached Port Dickson, she helped each of us put our backpacks back on and even tightened our straps. She proceeded to call two taxis for us and made sure the drivers knew which hotel to take us to. Those drivers ended up driving us throughout our entire stay in Port Dickson and are very special to my team and I.
God guided each step of our journey to Port Dickson as well as our stay there. I made a video of our travel day to Port Dickson, and I hope the written portion of this blog gives you a better understanding of what that day was like for us!
