So another change of plans…

This month we are in Kosovo! And we are loving it.

Kosovo recently became a country in 2008. It is a tiny little country in Europe whose total land mass is less than 1% of America. With a population of 1.8 million people, 96% are muslim. On our first day here, Pastor Arter, our host for the month, sat us down and gave us 600 years worth of history about the land that is now Kosovo. Christianity and Islam have clashed for hundreds of years here. Mckenzie’s blog  does an awesome job of retelling the impressive history that is still in the making. I strongly recommend reading it! http://mckenzietritt.theworldrace.org/post/route-change-number-2-the-land-of-blood-and-honey,

We are currently in the city of Pristina, the capital of Kosovo. The past week we have had an amazing time working with a pastor, his family, and his church helping out with several projects. One of the biggest, and most humorous, undertakings was sorting clothes at a warehouse for the church to sell at their second-hand thrift shop.

We have also been assisting teachers at a pre-school and Kindergarten. This week, the theme was time-travel and we all got to take a short trip to Egypt!

Evangelism outreach is a huge ministry for the church, so we spent many hours peeling and placing uplifting stickers on water bottles to hand out during hot summer days. Sometimes we got a little carried away.

The church family we are serving alongside this month are absolutely amazing! We love working with them as well as spending a majority of our free time hanging out.

This weekend, we took a road trip to the ancient city, Prisren. We night hiked to a castle that overlooks the beautiful city.

I have also enjoyed exploring on my own. I spent Saturday morning at a Christian coffee shop and enjoyed the best cut of French press coffee I have had since leaving the race. I also had a bagel and cream cheese for the first time in way too long.

Needless to say- I am certain Kosovo is

going to be one of the best

months yet!
