If I could designate one song to describe my life journey with Jesus it would be, “Diamonds” By Hawk Nelson. For those of you who don’t know that song, the chorus speaks to the art of redemption; God’s way of creating something invaluable out of something insignificant. Cheesy as it may be, it’s a pretty accurate picture of Jesus’s call on our lives. I am thankful beyond belief that God continued to mold and refine me despite my stubborn desires to stand drenched in my own brokenness.

While I wrestled with my faith for a long time, ultimately it was God’s work through mission trips that finally taught me the joys of denying myself and committing my life to my Savior. I have seen poverty that flooded me with tears, but a human soul with more joy than I could put into words. There is no way to set accurate expectations for mission work. But that’s the beauty. Knowing absolutely nothing except that anything is possible provides the framework for faith to move mountains and heal hardened hearts. While there are so many things I fear about the journey God has set before me, this mere fact thrills me.

In October I will embark on The World Race- a journey to serve 11 nations in 11 months. I will travel with a squad of 50 people and spend 1 month in each of the 11 countries: India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Albania, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa. Our ministry will consist of volunteering with non profits, serving in orphanages, building schools and churches, partnering with health initiatives, and so much more. Each country will present new relationships, new ministries, and its own set of challenges. However, the purpose of sharing the Love of God and the Truth of the Gospel remains constant throughout. I can’t express how excited I am for this journey to serve the Lord through a rare and blessed opportunity. At the same time, I am humbled by the fact that this will not be an easy journey. I encourage you to pray for all the World Race squads. Pray for safety, health, and a courageous desire to spread the gospel wherever we go. It is with prayer and faith that I know God’s will be done, and I can’t wait to see how His remarkable love story continues to unfold.
