I had a sneaky suspicion about this week’s beautiful thing. The Lord has been whispering this one since I started the Beautiful Things series.
People.
The people of Thailand are absolutely beautiful. Not only physically beautiful, but their personalities, their stories, their souls.
One dreary afternoon a few weeks ago while I was sitting outside of our house reading and journaling this sweet lady wandered up to me. She only spoke Thai and seeing that I only know “hello, thank you, and coffee blended” in thai, our conversation didn’t go very far. She simply sat beside me and watched me read. I could see in her eyes this woman has seen many years and carries much wisdom. Oh how I wish we could have communicated. I want to just sit and listen to the many stories I’m sure she could tell. Instead we just sat together enjoying the peace of each other’s company. As we were sitting I heard the Lord whisper to me,
“She is beautiful.”
This is Foo. We ate at Foo’s restaurant every day during our stay in Mae Ai, Thailand. I had the choice between pad thai, chicken fried rice, and pineapple fried rice(pad thai was my favorite). Occasionally he would make us french fries or shape our food into a heart. He is one if the sweetest men I have ever met. This picture was taken on Christmas day. My team made Foo a sign for his restaurant. He was so grateful and gave everyone a hug with tears in his eyes. On this day the Lord whispered to me,
“Foo is beautiful.”
Meet Meelt. She is in the primary 2 class. This girl was this first to learn my name and probably said it fifty times a day. She is a ball of never-ending energy. In the entire two months of teaching Meelt, I never once saw her sit still. She is pure joy. She is always eager to learn english and teach me thai patty cake games.
“She is beautiful.”
These are only three of the very many people I came in contact with during our two month stay in Thailand. The Lord has taught me what beauty really looks like through the people of Thailand. His creation is SO beautiful. His artwork is incredible.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastics 3:11
Do you see that?
Everything.
He has made everything beautiful in it’s time. Wherever you are, whatever situation you might be in, there is something or someone beautiful. There is always something beautiful because everything He has made is beautiful.
