Welcome to beautiful Nicaragua!
After four days of debrief in Granada, Nicaragua with the whole squad and our leadership team, our O Squad family has been working together at Vision Nicaragua in Chinandega. Vision Nicaragua does a lot of community outreach, partnering with local pastors and community members to share the Gospel.
Our Squad of 46 has been split in half and each day we travel to different neighboring communities with local pastors and church members. Daily ministry looks like door to door visits, helping fill prescriptions with the traveling clinic, giving testimonies, sharing the message of the Gospel, and lots of kids ministry! Our days are long and full, and I’ve hit the pillow with dirty feet and tired eyes every night.
This month has been stretching for me. Since the start of November I’ve felt the Lord saying, “Press in.” Going door to door and approaching strangers makes me uncomfortable. Public speaking makes me uncomfortable. Not always having a plan makes me uncomfortable. Singing in public makes me uncomfortable. But, I know the discomfort is where growth happens. Discomfort is where fear gets kicked in the face and the Holy Spirit can move. So, I’m learning to press in with the Lord a little more each day, and I see Him meeting me in my lack.
Our host this month is an American man in his 60’s named Ron, and he is absolutely wonderful! His connection with the locals is beautiful to see, and he’s also made sure we get a chance to see the beauty of Nicaragua; from doing door to doors in fishing villages along the ocean’s edge, to sledding down volcanoes!
Continue to pray for our Squad as we step out in courage to share the Good News of Jesus’ forgiveness, hope, grace, and love with the people of Nicaragua. Pray for us as we live in close community together. Pray over our my team as we learn to pursue each other with 40 other people present this month. Pray for Vision Nicaragua as they continue to be people of light and hope in Chinandega and the surrounding communities.
Sending love your way!
V.
