I have spent hours staring at this screen; writing and rewriting. Deleting and re-wording and re-phrasing what I’m trying to say. When really, it’s simple. I am going back to Africa and I need your help to get there. Sure, it may be nice to hear stories and see pictures of all the cute babies. And trust me, I have plenty of those. But when it comes down to it, I don’t desire to tug on your emotions to get money out of you. I desire for the Spirit of God to draw you to give in the same way He is drawing me to go. I desire for God to burden us all with the importance of being a part of what He is doing in the nations, and not neglecting to take personal responsibility. We are called not to just to watch but to participate. And I believe the same God who is drawing me to go, will draw the right people to give. After all, giving and going are equal parts to God’s mission.

The reality is this: sometimes I love Africa, and sometimes I do not. I experience deep joy in one breath, and deep frustration in another at the massive cultural differences. Sometimes it is hard to be without friends and family and internet connection. Other times it’s great to disconnect. Sometimes I wish I never had to leave. Other times I get extremely homesick. Sometimes I don’t want to take cold bucket showers and I wish I had a bed to sleep on. Sometimes I love the adventure of it all, and sometimes its only knowing God brought me there that keeps me there.

But there is a greater reality, beyond what my emotions have to say. And that reality is, I was called by God to Eastern Africa to build up the church and empower them to reach their lost. I am extremely privileged to have such an open door to share the gospel, and I don’t take it lightly. I have had the great honor of preaching a salvation message to 3 million people over the radio, and hundreds in person across many churches in many countries. And I am blessed to have so many people there that I consider family, making my time there so much easier and more enjoyable.

This will be my third trip to Africa. God willing, in addition to Rwanda and Kenya I will have an open door to preach in Tanzania. I’ll be gone for 3 weeks this December. All things considered, I am not a perfect missionary, but I am willing. And I can promise you this: If you will get me there, I will bring the gospel boldly. After a $350 contribution, I am only $1,600 away from my goal. Please pray about what God may have you give, and be encouraged that your role in sending and my role in going are of equal importance. Thank you for your prayers and your partnership.
