I’ll be honest, this has been a tough question for me to hear. But it makes sense, right?

“You’re so young and have seen so much, you must have travel fever!”

“I know you’re itching to leave again, huh?”

The answer is yes. I am itching to leave again. But it’s not just because I’m a twenty-something millennial with a travel bug. Traveling to 11 countries in 11 months showed me way more than just adventure.

It showed me people in need who still have hospitality beyond what we experience in the states.

It showed me communities who had strong, bold leaders rise up among them and become catalysts for change.

It showed me that, if I truly feel a burden to “help”, I can’t just stay put.

A large part of my dream is to learn more, to invest in a community and meet a need in a sustainable way.

The other large part of my dream is to be someone who introduces others to the mission field, to walk alongside those who are experiencing international service and missions maybe for the first time. Years ago I felt the first urges to serve internationally and had great leaders and examples around me to give me direction during that time. I now feel the Lord calling me into a place to do the same for other young women and men who feel that a call like that one.

In January of this year, the Lord opened a door for me to do just that – I received an email from Adventures in Missions asking for applicants interested in leading a Passport trip (a one or two month trip with a smaller team) and I knew it was something I wanted to do.

I am excited to say that in June and July of this summer, I will be co-leading a team of 12 women to South Africa and Swaziland! It seems so crazy to me that I will be returning to such a beautiful continent when just a few years ago it felt like Africa was such a far reach.

As I move into this incredible journey in just a few short months, would you come alongside me? First, would you pray for our team? Pray that this group of young women would not only be excited for the adventure of it all, but that they would be excited to invest in the communities we are going to serve, dive into community living, and be prepared to grow and change as they have this experience of international missions. That this trip would not just be something to tack onto a list or a new stamp in the passport, but that they would see it as a journey in and of itself.

Secondly, would you consider financially supporting me in this journey? In this opportunity to lead a team, I need to raise $2,000 to cover all of my travel and living expenses while we are abroad.

Oh also, THANK YOU.

Thank you for always coming alongside me as the Lord takes me through so many different seasons and experiences. I cannot look back on the last year of my life without acknowledging the immense support I have received from my friends and family around me. So please, hear me when I say from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You have made it clear to me that if the Lord calls me to it, he will provide the support to accomplish it, and it blows me away time and time again.

As always, feel free to contact me and ask me any questions you may have about this opportunity, my fundraising, and why I want to continue to pursue missions and international ministry.

Love always,

Sequoi
