Hola from Chile!

As you know, our squad is spending our month 9 all across Chile, and yes it is freezing here. But we’re loving it. Who knew we would get to throw snowballs and go sledding in the Andes mountains?

I’m writing this short post to update you on a sweet idea our host had; it’s also a very fun way that we get to support our host’s mission beyond our one month here.

Our hosts, Juan and Elvira, are missionaries and serve their community in countless ways through their church, Comunidad Bautista. In September, they have the opportunity to lead a missions trip from Chile to Mendoza, Argentina. They will work with children and families in less fortunate neighborhoods, lead a women’s group, and support a local church.

At the dinner table early this week, as we asked our hosts what some of their favorite foods were from their visit the the USA. During this, Elvira lit up with an incredible idea for a fundraiser. We get to cook a meal from the States and sell plates to their church family and anyone from the community that wants to take part in the meal!

Our hosts loved baked beans when they visited Texas, so we ran with the idea of a BBQ lunch. We will be cooking all day today and serving the meal tomorrow afternoon! In order to raise the most money possible, our host’s community came together to provide as many of the ingredients as possible.

We still have a few to purchase, along with some serving supplies.

If you are interested in donating a few dollars to help us provide the resources for this fundraiser, please contact me or any of the ladies on team Salty.

We would love to show them that the body of Christ is an international family that supports one another, even from afar.

Heres our familia for the month!
