Therefore Go.

These are the words that have played in my head almost daily for the past few years. Go has become one of my favorite words. This two-letter word implies so much. When you go, you are going to a destination and you get to make the most of what is between the going and the getting there. My friends and I know this from road trips, long hikes, trips to the grocery store or even walks to campus; whatever destination we’re going to, the journey is going to an important part of the adventure. We often make incredible memories before we even get to the destination.

Sometimes you choose to go. I choose to go to class every day (okay, most days). You choose to go to work, or go to the grocery store, or go get your closest friends and drive to the base of Sharp Top Mountain at 3:30 am to hike to the peak and see the sunrise just to make a memory of a sweet adventure.

Sometimes you’re called to go.

I remember the first time I read Matthew 28:16-20. I was in high school. I thought that I had heard the verse quoted before but I had never read it and processed it for myself. In these few verses, Jesus calls his followers to go, make disciples of all nations and teach what he had taught them. The verse that is quoted often is the first part of verse 19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” but just before this Jesus tells his disciples, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me, therefore go…”

With all authority, Jesus has been calling me to go. This call to go has been ringing in my head for so long. Even as a young high school freshman, I knew that sometime in my life the Lord would call me to go internationally. Finally, as a senior in college, I said okay, I’ll go!

I am so excited to go. I have finally responded to the call on my life to serve the Lord wherever he takes me.

One of the sweetest parts of this passage is found at the very end. This is the part that makes saying, “okay, I’ll go” less intimidating. Jesus says in verse 20, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” I won’t be doing this alone. I’ll have my squad and my team, I’ll have (long distance) my incredible family, friends, and supporters, and Jesus reminds me that I have him whenever and wherever I go.

I would love your support on this journey, prayerfully or financially. If you’re interested in supporting me financially, check out the Support Me tab!
