Hey people! If you’ve made your way to this page I assume you’re looking to learn a little more about me.

My name is Sequoi (yes, like the Sequoia tree without the ‘a’). I’m 21 years old and I am in my last semester of undergrad at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA. I’m a Geography major and I love human and urban geography. Four years ago, I did NOT want to spend my entire college career at UMW, but a few weeks in of my first semester I realized why the Lord put me where he did, and I couldn’t be happier doing life in FXBG.

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to lead Young Life during my college career at Riverbend High School in Spotsylvania County. I have loved my few years working in high school ministry and I have learned and experienced more than I ever could have anticipated coming into college.

My incredible family also lives in Virgina (Lynchburg and Richmond) and we are a very close group of people. How lucky am I to be related to 4 of my best friends? I’ve got an older sister, an older brother, and two hilarious, much-cooler-than-me parents. My parents are from the Caribbean, my siblings were born in Texas and Colorado, and we’ve been rooted in Virginia since before I was born. It’s easy to see where my love of both the mountains and the beach, spicy foods, reggae music, and a house filled with loud talking (and even louder laughing) has come from.

These are some things I love: Jesus, pizza, laughing, my housemates, Drake, the river, camping, Brooklyn, mountains, hot sauce, maps, my dog Bo, stars, glitter and all varieties of shiny things.

Since high school I have felt that Jesus was preparing my heart for international ministry. I am so excited that the Lord has called me into this next step of my life and I cannot wait to experience Him in 11 different countries.

So that’s it, people! It’s really happening. 11 in 11, wow.
