As many of you know, I love art. I love to draw, paint, build, sculpt, etc. However, I tend to be a little ADD, I don’t like to sit still for too long, and OCD, I am a perfectionist when it comes to crafts.

As I sat in my class early last week, I prayed over my students and how I could show them the love of Christ without shoving it down their throats. Then, God sparked an idea. Why not pray a word over each students name and then draw it out. My initial reaction was a “heck yes!” followed by excitement to begin.

This excitement soon turned to concern that same evening as I realized I had 29 students. I thought to myself, “this is impossible! How can I complete 29 sketches, make them look nice, pray for a word, and be present in all other aspects of ministry here?!” God responded with peace and confidence that I can accomplish it. (he is so funny sometimes) So I began.

I calculated out if I did three names a day I could finish by Friday of this week. (Just pushing it a little since we leave that evening…) I wanted to give each child’s name time and attention. I pushed through frustration, lack of ideas and fear of failure. My mind kept saying, “You are so many in! You can’t stop now.” And God kept filling me with confidence that I would finish.

So, why am I posting this on Tuesday? I finished the sketches! God was right! (Go figure) I knew I had to do this even though it wasn’t always fun. Through the diligence and focus on obeying God, I was able to complete this impossible task. Praise the Lord! Run your race with a YES in your spirit and you might surprise yourself.
