While we were walking the streets of Uruguay we came across some homeless people on two different occasions. Both of them were blind. They told us about their lives and we shared a little about ours. After some stories and laughs were shared, we told them about Jesus and how much the Father loves them. We then had the opportunity to pray for these two individuals.
We prayed for a personal relationship with Jesus. We prayed for the unwavering love of God to be made known to them. We prayed for their eyes to see.
Isaiah 35:4-5 “…He will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened…”
Matthew 11:4-5 “and Jesus answered them, “Go and tell what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk..””
I was praying for a miracle to occur. I poured my spirit out for God’s Spirit to open their eyes to see His beautiful creation.
Yet nothing happened. They still couldn’t see us standing right next to them. As we walked back to our place, I began thinking about the whole thing. God said something to me in that moment, “The blind will see. But the blind also need to be seen. Be loved. Be valued and understand their worth.”
The spiritually blind need to see how much Jesus desires a personal relationship with them. For both the blind to see and the spiritually blind to know Jesus, we must be willing to be interrupted by the Holy Spirit and confidently walk in obedience. We must be secure in our faith and the calling on our lives to live for Him and Him alone. We must be willing to give all the glory to God when we see the miraculous happen; the miraculous encounter when someone understands their worth in Christ and the miraculous moment when the almighty power of God gives sight to a man.
I didn’t witness a blind man see, but I will one day.
Do you want to see change? Be the change you wish to see in this world. Proclaim the name of Jesus. Give your time so someone can feel seen and worthy. Love those God has placed in front of you. Pray for the impossible.
Go out and be the gospel.
