Two weeks down, two to go, and what an experience it’s been! This past week (Monday through Wednesday), Brooke and I had the opportunity to assist Dr. Beth in screening eyes for every child in the TEARS school. Brooke got to handle some cool technology as she scanned each child for certain markers and the ones who had said markers came to hang out with me! I did the distance and near sighting tests (so cool!) and then sent the kiddos on to the doctor. Once assessed, they were fitted with a pair of glasses and, God willing, will have their special pair by August just in time for school!

Our boys, Dylan and Davante, stayed on property this week and assisted with the ground breaking of TEARS high school. There are tons of shipping containers on site and people are busy working with these giant legos to make a school. It’s amazing to watch their progress!

Thursday, Dr. Beth and her team (Sheryl and Steve) left and Brooke and I took up painting on property while our guys went to hang out with Johnny at the water plant. The guys got to bond with him, hear his testimony and fill up water jugs for the community, and the TEARS center now has some purple walls (and I’m rocking a red back…didn’t think I needed sunscreen while painting…whoops!)

Alicia was back in the office all week, throwing around Spanish like a local and seeing that students are registered for the upcoming school year.

And as for yesterday, we were blessed with a chill beach day which was much needed and appreciated! The beach was beautiful and the water crystal clear ????

Today, we’ll continue painting and soaking in our time with TEARS. One more week here is just unreal. Time has gone by so quickly! Praying that the Lord slows it down just a bit (I have a hard anticipating these goodbyes!) and that He fills this week with memories to be cherished. Also, please pray that TEARS continues to receive the funding that they need for their high school, for JSQUAD as we prepare to journey home and for an awesome debrief for our last week on the field. Muchas gracias!
