IT’S CHRISTMAS WEEK! This past week was a busy one. We arrived in Ta Khmao on Saturday (Dec. 10th) and as I mentioned in my previous post, we ended up sleeping on a roof in our hammocks for two nights while our host was finishing up on the house we’d be staying in for our time in Cambodia. It was fun camping out, but because of weather (lots of rain) and two of my teammates waking up with rashes/bug bites, we moved into a guest house for Monday and Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, we finally got to see the house and had one good nights sleep before leaving for out-of-town ministry for the weekend. Kampong Speu Province is where the Village English School is located and we helped in classrooms teaching preschool through 7th grade. It is a predominately Buddhist school, but because we’ve got Jesus, we couldn’t help but share His love. Our kids were taught church songs and we were able to have a worship session and share the Gospel with the teachers our last night there! Such an amazing experience.

On Sunday, I celebrated my 25th birthday and was blown away by the outpouring of love – My church community in Cambodia surprised me with this birthday cake, complete with my name in Khmer, my teammates showered me with love and chocolate AND I got to spend my day sharing the love and good news of Jesus Christ! The day ended with the most spectacular sunset and a call from home.

And here we are, December 19th. T-6 days until our church Christmas celebration on the 25th! It sounds like it’ll be a great gathering to celebrate our Savior’s birth. I know how busy this week is for people back home, so I pray peace, safe travels and joyous reunions over you all.
