As we made our way to the Maseru Mall on our last Saturday in Lesotho, Madie, Jill and I walked silently in prayer. “Holy Spirit – How will you use me today?” is how I started, eager to hear His voice and to see Him work through me.
-Silence-
Now, I didn’t let that silence discourage me as the World Race encourages finding comfort in that uncomfortable silence, so I continued my walk. As I took in my surroundings, I saw how desolate the land was and yet couldn’t help but see the beauty in the small flowers blossoming in the dirt.
“There’s beauty hidden here” came to me as a breeze cooled my back. I smiled and took a deep breath in. I pushed on and again, asked “How will you use me?”
“Love well” was all I heard but in those words was overwhelming truth. In asking to be used, the Spirit reminded me that there’s opportunities everywhere. It’s in answering the “nudges” that we feel in everyday life and loving our neighbor as the Father loves us that we are used.
Encouragement for us all – Be present and be interruptible. In being present, our eyes see the flowers hidden in the dirt, the potential placed before us! And allow yourself to be interruptible. All too often we feel the nudge to love but it feels too uncomfortable or interrupts our plans. In allowing the Spirit to “budge in” we open ourselves to see the Holy Spirit move in our lives and fill us with joy.
With that, friends, I pray that you may be interrupted with the Spirit today…He has big plans for you and His people!

The Spirit is AMAZING and on the move with this team. What I shared above was placed on not only my heart, but Madie and Jill also had the Spirit speak in similar fashion. When we finished our walk, I asked Madie what she had heard and she said that there is “hidden beauty and potential here meant to be cultivated”. That’s when I told her about the flowers in the dirt…in that moment we both pulled out our phones and showed the pictures we had taken of the flowers in the dirt! After that I said that I had the words “Love well” on repeat in my head. She smiled and said she heard the same! Our God is so good.
