Wingapo friends!
The time in the Ukraine is flying by. We spent our first week advertising for an English camp that we are hosting this week and next. Unlike most of the places we have taught English, we are not working with a school here. The seven of us are the only teachers. And we have three 2 hour classes per day, with an hour in between for resetting. The class sizes range from 5-25.
Again, unlike most English programs, this one is for people 16 and older to give those who have finished school a chance to keep learning. Turns out, the Ukraine is not a popular American tourist destination. Many of the people we have met in the Ukraine have commented on us being the first Americans or sometimes even the first native English speakers they have had a chance to speak to.
Fun facts about the Ukraine:
They have so many castles.
They are not Russia, nor do they appreciate the comparison of their culture to Russian culture.
Ukrainian hospitality is unreal. Your grandmother has nothing on Ukrainians.
Everyone in the Ukraine wants you to love the Ukraine.
The food is amazing.
Next week, my teammate, Haley, and I will be leaving to see her sister in Prague. From there we will be heading to debrief in Budapest; then on to Romania. My wonderful Marmmy will be joining me and other parents of World Racers for a little bit in Romania. Please be praying for all of the traveling that is about to take place in addition to the English school we are hosting this month. Malawi blogs are coming….eventually.
