We hosted an event called Encounter.

It was a time for alumni racers to reconnect, and for them to invite their friends and family into having an encounter with God and becoming activated.

This day and half event was full of moves of God. God encountering his sons and daughters in deeper ways. I know for me this was very much the case.

You know how when you volunteer for something and you make sure that you are available for the event. If you’re anything like me you make sure that you do whatever it takes to help with the overall event even if that means missing out on some of the keynote speakers etc.

It’s like God knew I needed to hear and have an encounter myself. I found myself not really consumed with the running’s of the event. I took time to truly listen and with great expectation watch as the atmosphere would change. The move of God was upon the room. An encounter like no one had felt before was taking place.

It was a beautiful thing because you could feel that even though there was a room full of believers everyone one was hungry and thirsty to have a fresh encounter with God.

After the first night you God was to breaking through and all we had to do was step out of the way. That is what I did. Each of the four men who spoke built on what Holy Spirit was leading, with a main scripture reference of John 17.

A day packed with strong words and activation. For me it was a mix of being a helping hand, and sitting and expecting a move of God. Oh did He ever move. God spoke to me in a way that was special just for me. It was a time where I heard God speaking words of affirmation over me, words of confirmations over me and words of pure deep love.

It’s more than words could describe when you encounter the Fathers love. The Father is waiting for you and me to slow down long enough to have an encounter. His will is not above our choices. His heart is that we would choose Him. I know that it sometimes takes events like the Encounter for us as Christians to awaken, to focus, and to come in to alignment with what God is doing. I am learning that is something I can actively pursue everyday.

What would it look like for you to create a space in your life to encounter the love of God?  Are you willing?
