This last week we had he chance to spend time with our brother Jason and six YWAM students in a town called Palenque.
There are many stories and experiences we had in Palenque. Everyday was an opportunity to lay down ourselves, pick up the cross and follow Jesus.
The climate is hot and humid with scattered clouds throughout the day. Showering was always an adventure either the river or buckets in the backyard. Bug spray, is quickly be coming World Race perfume. But those are just things that I needed to leave behind me those are the things that don’t really matter. These are the things of flesh things of the world the things that would cause most people to say I’m done get out of here. But God has called me and my teammates to go deeper into his love and to love others just as He would. The people of Palenque are what’s most important.
There are many moments that I could share, like the time we were in church for four hours or the time we evangelize in the street or the time we were chaperon to the river to bathe because it would be to dangerous for us to go alone. Many memories, the one I say that stand out for me was sitting with Raul (the man with no shirt) learning the native language Palenque. We were told that he became a witch doctor because he was made fun of. Our leader told us that he has tried to have relationship with him and it seems that the Lord is making a chance in Rauls life. So when we invited him to come to lunch, we made sure he felt special. I grab my notebook with my friend Carin (YWAM student) and we had Raul teach us Palenque language. He was a kind gentle man, I felt that he has not be intentional with people before. He shared that many people come to Palenque and ask him to take a picture with him like a mascot of somthing. He invited us to take a picture with him, what a privilege.

This is Raul the man from Palenque with no shirt!
