One night a woman was sitting on her bunk in a cute second story room of a European hostel. She was pondering all that Lord had done for her in her short 23 years of life. The Lord had kept her alive multiple times, there are times in her life she should have died, but was instead left nearly unharmed. Its obvious that the enemy was fearful of the person the Lord was building her to be. Now as she sit in the room she ask the Lord what it is He wants to show her. How does he want to uses her in the next 30days? Sitting in the stillness of the room she heard his sweet voice say “come follow me. leave behind your family, friends and comforts”. She went into a moment of shock,then said “Lord do you realize that I have left my family, friends, and comforts and followed you?”. He responded very quickly and said “physically yes, mentally no”. After more talking back and forth the Lord instructed her to remove all contact with anyone out of where she was for the next 30 days.
The first week and a half was easy for her, she was able to focus on the current task at hand and really spend good time with the Lord. Then by the end of the second week she was hurting. She felt so uncomfortable and alone, all she wanted was to jump back into the comforts of her friends and family’s voices. How would she make it the full 30 days?
After a few days and a few pep talks from her team, she was back on track to being present. Through the 30 days the woman was able to find a new comfort in the Lord. Since she wasn’t wasting time on the Internet she was able to build a stronger connection with the Lord.
Nearing the end of the 30 days the woman was sitting on the old couch in the house. She had her knees pulled to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. She sat there breathing in the Lords presence. A few seconds later her heart beat almost stopped. She looked down to were her arms once were and saw the glow of arms around her. She looked up and saw her own arms raised out by her side as if she was floating in water. As time continued she began to feel a heart beat on her back at the same moment her body came off the couch as if someone had just picked her up. In that moment she felt all worry, fear, stress, and sleeplessness fall away. When the moment had passed she looked around at the people around her (who were staring at her), she was beaming because she knew that she had just been given a hug by the creator of the universe and she felt his heart beat against her back.
As she goes back to that day in the hostel she is proud of herself for being obedient to the Lord’s call. He had been jealous for her and her time, He longed to show her what intimacy with him looks like. Through her obedience to His request she was able to feel the Lord in a way she never thought possible.
