We spent a lot of our month in Thailand doing evangelism. Sometimes that was with college students and other times it was walking around talking with locals. Since there was a language barrier, we often had the YWAM staff along to share in Thai. One of the things I set out to do was be able to do simple evangelism in Thai. Being willing to try to speak Thai got a favorable response from the people I talked to. One lady even said I was her daughter. So in case you want to be adopted by a Thai family, here’s how you share the gospel in Thai. (Written phonetically because I didn’t learn the letters haha)
Sawadee, kha – greetings / hello
Chan chew Allison – my name is Allison
Coon chew a rye kha? – what’s your name
Pra Jesu rak coon – Jesus loves you
**optional, but recommended: hand them a gospel pamphlet in Thai language **
Yindi tidai rootah kha – it’s nice to meet you
Cob Coon kha – thank you
Ca hi me wela tidi na kha – have a good day
