Leaving India and having to say goodbye to the kids was hard, but our first week with TAMI here in Nepal has been great. Behind the majestic mountains and tourist fun is a hurting nation that is chained to idols, alcohol, and poverty. During my quiet time with the Lord, he gave me this verse for the month we will be here:
“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” – Isaiah 2:2-3The first thing I noticed was that Lord’s house will be established upon the mountains. This gives me hope for the people of Nepal. Although, they are stuck in bondage and false religion, God’s kingdom will prevail. Our host says the Nepal church has been one of the fastest growing over the past 30 years. There is a hunger here and the people need the power of God.
Next is people saying, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord.” We came from India and have come up to the mountains. God has created the mountains in Nepal, and we can invite the people here to join us in going to God’s house. To me, this also describes getting closer to God. As if saying, “Let’s go and draw closer to God.” This month we are drawing closer to God as a squad and we want to have the Nepali people come with us as we draw closer.
Finally, when we get to the mountain, God will teach us His ways and we shall walk in His paths. This month, we are going to learn more about God. We are going to learn the ways of God and teach them to the people of Nepal. We are also going to walk in His paths to the people we need to reach and the places we need to go.
Although you may not currently be in the mountains, use this month to go up to the mountain of God and draw closer to him. See what he wants to teach you and where he wants to take you. As you do this, please pray for me, my squad, and the Nepali people. There is so much need here and prayer does so much.
